(I thought I had published this post weeks ago...oops! Now it's practically time for another one.)
So the work weekend was a huge success! We got so much more done than we thought we would. As of now the bedroom is completely stripped of plaster, insulation, doors, and carpet. The master bath is also down to the sub-floor. All of the fixtures and plumbing are gone. On the non-demo side of the project we got a lot done too! Julie, Mom and Dad Volbeda, and our friend Lori all did a great job painting the living room and getting the dining room started. Derek's friend Adam also worked on the roof all day on Friday. We had a leak and he pressure washed it for us and the next day and Dad Price patched it.
The next project is to strip all of the nob and tube electrical from the bedroom and run new wiring. We also took a shopping trip last weekend and found an incredible deal on a vanity for our guest bathroom. The work weekend was a big push and such an enormous help! Unfortunately we almost feel like that has highlighted how slow the work is going to get done now. Nevertheless, we are so greatful for all of our friends and family who spent an entire day (or two) working with us.
Of course there were some battle wounds (Aaron was tearing out the plaster and the wall hit him back right between the eyes!), accidents ( Dad Price fell off the roof!!! Thankfully and amazingly he was not hurt at all!), and several close calls as the boys were tearing out the ceiling in the bedroom. We are hoping that no one develops lung cancer from the old decayed insulation :)
So to all who helped us, we appreciate your efforts so much! Together we got done in two days what would have taken us months of working on Saturdays to complete. We will of course continue to update our progress as we make it although it make take awhile for us to complete something that we feel is noteworthy.
Who's is in for Spring Break Work Weekend '09???? Anybody? Anybody?
